Terms of use
Last updated 20 October 2026
1Who we are and what these terms cover
Verena is offered by Served.ch GmbH, Chemin du Pélard 13 1197 Prangins Switzerland (“we”). These terms apply to the Verena website and app and to everyone who creates an account or uses them (“you”). By creating an account or using the app you agree to them. How we handle personal data is described in the privacy policy.
2What Verena does
Verena lets you describe your household's money as a timeline and look at it on any date, past or future. In particular you can:
- record people, accounts, income, expenses, projects and goals, and let repeating items follow rules such as payment days, seasons and yearly changes;
- see balances and projections for any date, and where money gets tight;
- explore what-if scenarios without changing your real plan, compare them, and apply the parts you choose to your plan;
- use templates for life events (a child growing up, retirement, buying a home or a car) and a stress test of how long your money lasts;
- import a bank statement file to get suggestions, and take snapshots of your plan to check later how it went;
- optionally ask an AI assistant questions and have it prepare changes for your confirmation.
3What Verena does not do
- It is not a bank and does not hold, receive or move money. It does not connect to your bank accounts; what it shows comes from what you enter or import.
- It does not give financial, investment, tax or legal advice and does not recommend financial products or providers. It plans with your own numbers.
- Its results are not an offer, a promise or a credit decision. Checks such as the home purchase affordability check are estimates based on common Swiss bank rules of thumb and your inputs; other countries' rules are not covered, and they do not replace the assessment of a bank or an adviser.
4Projections and calculations
What lies ahead is a projection built from the rules and assumptions you entered, such as expected interest and income. It is not a fact and not a forecast of what will happen. Values up to today are only as accurate as the balances and entries you provided. Keep your entries current, and check important figures against your bank statements.
5Your account
You must be at least 18 and use Verena for your own private household planning, not professionally for other people's finances. Sign-in is provided by our identity provider Clerk. Keep your sign-in details to yourself and tell us if you suspect misuse; you are responsible for what happens under your account.
6The sample household
When you first sign in we create a sample household with fictional data so you can try the app. It is not real, you can edit or delete it, and you should not base decisions on it.
7Your data
Your data remains yours. You allow us to store and process it in order to provide the service, as described in the privacy policy, and to the extent needed for that purpose only. You are responsible for entering accurate data and for having the right to enter it, in particular where it concerns other people. You can download or delete your data at any time in the app.
8The assistant
The assistant is optional, off until you turn it on, and powered by artificial intelligence provided by a third party. To answer it sends part of your household data to that provider, as described in the privacy policy. It can make mistakes, such as misunderstanding a question, choosing the wrong figure or phrasing something too confidently. Figures it quotes come from your plan's calculations, but you should check anything important before acting. It never saves changes without your confirmation, and you are responsible for what you confirm.
9Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- access or try to access another person's data or accounts, or probe the service for weaknesses without our written permission;
- disrupt or overload the service, or use bots, scrapers or other automated access that the app does not offer;
- copy, decompile or reverse-engineer the software, except where the law allows it;
- upload unlawful content or malicious code, or use the service for unlawful purposes;
- share your account with others or use the service to manage other people's finances professionally;
- use the assistant to produce unlawful, harmful or deceptive content.
10People in your household
Everyone who belongs to a household can see and use all of its data. Only add people to a household you want to have that access, and make sure they know it. Each household has its owner, who can delete it. Owners can invite people by email; an invitation is tied to the address entered, can be used once and is valid for seven days, and owners can remove members at any time. Only invite people whose address you know and who can expect an invitation; we send that one message only. Whoever is invited sees all of the household's data after accepting and can change it.
11Cost and plans
Verena costs CHF 39 per year, including VAT where it applies. Every new account starts with a free trial of 7 days, and no payment details are needed for it. During the trial the assistant answers a limited number of questions; with a subscription it has a monthly allowance.
While we are still testing Verena, payments may not be switched on yet. Until then you can use it in full without paying and without the trial's limits. Before payments start we will tell you in the app or by email, and you then still have a trial of at least 7 days. Nothing is ever charged unless you subscribe yourself.
When the trial ends without a subscription, your plan stays readable: you can still look at everything, download your data and delete your account, but nothing can be changed until you subscribe.
The subscription renews every year until you cancel. You can cancel at any time in the app under Privacy & data and keep using Verena until the end of the period you paid for. One subscription covers every member of your household. Payments are handled by Paddle (Paddle.com Market Ltd, United Kingdom), which acts as the seller of the subscription and issues the invoice; Paddle's terms apply to the payment itself. We will tell you in advance if the price changes.
12Money-back guarantee
If Verena is not right for you, you can get a payment back in full within 14 days of paying it. In the app, open Privacy & data, then Subscription, and choose “Get my money back”. We then refund the payment in full to the payment method you used and end your subscription at once, so your plan becomes read-only; the refund can take a few days to arrive.
The guarantee applies to your first payment and to each renewal. After 14 days we do not refund a payment on our own initiative, but you can cancel at any time to stop future payments. Rights you have by law, and any rights under Paddle's terms of sale, are not affected. Questions about a refund: hello@verena.finance.
13Availability and changes
Verena is under active development and may contain errors. We work to keep it available but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation, and we may change, add or remove features. We back up the data but recommend you download your own copy from time to time. If we discontinue the service we will give you notice and time to download your data.
14Third-party services
The service relies on third parties for hosting, sign-in, payments, sending email and the assistant's AI model. Their availability and terms may affect the service; we are not responsible for their independent acts, but remain responsible to you for them as far as the law requires.
15Our rights
The software, design, texts and trademarks of Verena belong to us or our licensors. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service as provided, for your own household planning. If you send us feedback we may use it to improve the service without owing you anything.
16Ending your use
You can stop using Verena and delete your account in the app at any time; deleting it removes your data as described in the privacy policy. Deleting your account also ends your subscription, and with it the cover it gives other members of your households. It does not refund what you have already paid: if you are still within the 14 days of the money-back guarantee, ask for your money back first.
We may suspend or end your access for good reason, such as a breach of these terms, misuse or legal requirements, and will where reasonable tell you why and give you the chance to download your data. If we end your access or discontinue the service without you having breached these terms, we refund the unused part of the period you paid for.
17No guarantees about results
The service is provided as it is. As far as the law allows, we give no warranty that projections, calculations or answers of the assistant are accurate, complete or fit for a particular decision.
18Liability
To the extent permitted by law we are liable only for intent and gross negligence, and not for decisions you make based on projections or answers of the assistant, nor for indirect or consequential loss. Liability that cannot be excluded by law, for example for injury to life, body or health or under mandatory product liability or consumer protection rules, remains unaffected.
19Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example when features or the law change. We will tell you in the app or by email about changes that matter, with reasonable notice. If you do not agree, you can delete your account; using the service after the change takes effect means you accept it.
20Applicable law and jurisdiction
Swiss law applies, excluding its conflict-of-law rules and the UN Sales Convention. Mandatory consumer protection rules of your country of residence remain unaffected. If the law allows a choice, the courts of Basel-Stadt, Switzerland, have jurisdiction. As a consumer you can always sue us at your place of residence or at our seat, and we can sue you only at your place of residence.
21General
If a provision of these terms is invalid, the rest remains in force. These terms and the privacy policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the service. Where translations differ, the German version prevails.
